DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIIES:
Inspection and maintains Flight Simulator Equipment. Perform periodic inspections of simulators. Analyzes discrepancies reported by instructors, and visually inspects items such as mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electron components, digital computers, analog computers, and associated peripheral equipment. Accomplishes preventive maintenance functions, including replacement of defective electronic and mechanical components. Cleans and lubricates mechanical assemblies. Check installed and repaired components to ensure compliance with technical publications. Prepares and maintains, inspections, and maintains, inspections, and maintenance documents and related simulator reports and records. Review maintenance management publications to obtain useful information applicable to flight simulator equipment. Diagnoses malfunction and recommend corrective action. Devises new maintenance and operating procedures, and recommends revisions to policies for greater program effectiveness.
Troubleshoots and Repairs Flight Simulator Equipment Malfunctions. Analyzes discrepancies reported by flight instructors and students. Diagnoses cause of flight simulator equipment malfunctions by using diagnoses programs and computer consoles, and built in test equipment. Isolates defective system components, such as integrated circuits, transistors, diodes, resistors, input/output components and power supplies. Analyzes circuits using common and special purpose test equipment in conjunction with appropriate technical data and computer diagnostics. Computer control panel, computer programs listings, symbol tables, wire runs lists, and logic block, and schematic diagrams. Resolves flight simulator and associated equipment malfunctions be repairing or replacing defective printed circuit board or components. Aligns, adjust and calibrates mechanical and electronic assemblies and electronic and replaces malfunctioning equipment. Functionally test flight simulators to ensure discrepancies have been cleared
Install, Adjust and Modifies Flight Simulators Equipment, Recommends and makes computer program changes and hardware modifications on simulator equipment and computers. Modifies and maintains digital/analog computers and peripheral equipment such as teletypewriters, line printers, card and paper tape punches/readers and magnetic tape/disc units. Installs and disassembles flight simulators and associated equipment. Documents modifications and prepares appropriate unsatisfactory reports on components and technical data not meeting prescribed standards. Evaluates justification and practicability of proposed modifications. Operates Flight Simulators and simulator Equipment. Assist instructors / aircrew during scheduled training missions. Presets gross weights, altitudes, temperatures, navigation stations, and instruments landing approach systems.
Supervises Flight Simulator Personnel. Plans and schedules work assignments. Ensures availability of test equipment, technical data, tools and spare parts. Assigning work to subordinates on the various maintenance and operational task of flight simulator equipment. Establishes work methods, controls, and quality control procedures. Ensure subordinates comply with technical publications, performance standards, and security, fire prevention, and ground safety directives. Installation, and maintenance of digital/analog fight simulator equipment. Advises users on limitations and capabilities of equipment. Ensures that personnel comply with typewriters, card readers, line printers, and so forth), interpretation of logic, block and schematic diagrams, wire run listings, computer program listings, computer diagnostics, symbol tape, and mechanical blueprints, and military maintenance management system is mandatory.
Five (5) years as simulator technician with experience in performing or supervising functions such an inspection, operation, troubleshooting, modification, maintenance, computer programming, and repair and digital/analog flight simulators and associated equipment are mandatory. Twelve (12) months as AB212 and 412EP simulator technician is mandatory.
