Job Overview


Knowledge of procedures involved with the inspection, repair and fabrication of fabric equipment used in aircraft maintenance is mandatory.  Must have specific knowledge of fabric-related repairs to aircraft control surfaces and be proficient in shop repair of rubberized products.  Completion of an approved Fabrication Maintenance course is mandatory.  Must have working knowledge of aircraft maintenance forms, records and reports to meet the job standards prescribed by the CLIENTS.  Must be able to speak, read, comprehend and write English clearly and distinctly.  Completion of high school or equivalent is mandatory.  Must be qualified and capable of providing necessary job training to the Customer.


Minimum of three (3) years experience on C-130 aircraft, preferably ‘E’, ‘H’ and KC-130 models, is mandatory.  Must have worked on the C-130 aircraft at least 12 of the last 36 months immediately preceding employment.


  1. Reports to the Fabrication Shop Chief as a Fabrication Technician.
  2. Responsible for inspection, repair and testing of assigned equipment, to include protective covers, aircraft soundproofing, upholstery, protective clothing, safety belts and shoulder harnesses, fabric-covered aircraft control surfaces, life rafts, anti-exposure suits and life preservers.
  3. Repairs cuts and damaged areas, and applies patches to damaged rubber and rubberized equipment.
  4. Lays out patterns, assembles and stitches seams for items such as seat covers, aircraft control surfaces, aircraft soundproofing and equipment covers. Removes and replaces unserviceable covers on ailerons, rudders and elevators.  Prepares doping compound and applies dope by brush or spray equipment.
  5. Responsible for conducting Customer training, to include OJT, and maintenance of training records for the Corrosion Control Shop.
  6. Performs other related duties as directed.
