Job Overview


Knowledge of mechanical principles that apply to operation and maintenance of ground liquid oxygen (LOX) storage and distribution systems is mandatory.  Must be able to safely service LOX carts and perform necessary maintenance on storage and servicing equipment.  Completion of basic course in Liquid Oxygen handling and characteristics is desirable.  Must have working knowledge of forms, records and reports associated with LOX Plant management.  Must be able to speak, read, comprehend and write English clearly and distinctly.  Completion of high school or equivalent is mandatory.  Must be qualified and capable of providing necessary job training to the Customer.


Minimum of two (2) years experience in support of LOX Plant servicing and maintenance operations is mandatory.  Experience in support of C-130 aircraft operations is desirable.


  1. Reports to the Environmental Control Systems Shop Chief as a LOX Maintenance Technician.
  2. Services stationary LOX storage tanks and portable LOX carts with liquid oxygen.  Observes safety precautions associated with liquid oxygen operations.
  3. Maintains mechanical systems on both LOX storage tanks and portable LOX carts, to include inspection, repair and replacement of all gauges, valves, regulators and tubing.
  4. Performs all required inspections and periodic maintenance on LOX Storage tanks and portable LOX carts. Maintains tools and equipment associated with LOX Plant operations.
  5. Responsible for conducting Customer training, to include OJT, and maintenance of training records for the LOX Plant.
  6. Performs other related duties as directed.
