Job Overview


Graduation from a military under-graduate pilot training course and aircrew instructor training course are mandatory.  Must possess instructor-level knowledge in the following areas:  C-130 aircraft systems operation and procedures; flight planning, meteorology, instrument procedures, flight rules and regulations; pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight procedures; C-130 tactical airland and airdrop operations or KC-130 air refueling operations. Must be familiar with training techniques, the use of audio-visual training aids, and training systems.  Knowledge of the operation of flight simulators, curriculum development, and the operation of IBM-compatible computers is desirable. A bachelors degree or higher in management or administration is desirable.


Shall have a minimum of 5000 hours of flying time as pilot-in-command, 3000 of which must be in various models of the C-130 aircraft, and 2000 hours of experience as an instructor pilot.  Must have five (5) or more years of management experience, or two (2) years of management experience coupled with an undergraduate degree in management or administration.  One (1) year of experience as an instructor pilot with the CLIENTS C-130 program is desirable.


  1. Reports operationally to the Flying Wing Commander. Represents the contractor as liaison to the Flying Wing Commander.  Reports administratively to the contractor Program Director.
  2. Advises and assists the Flying Wing Commander on operational matters.
  3. Assists in the development of CLIENTS operational policies and programs.
  4. Ensures contractor compliance with the terms of the contract; ensures completion and approval of contract documentation. Advises the Flying Wing Commander on contract restrictions.
  5. Screens employment applications; prepares and submits employment approval packages for review by the wing.
  6. Supervises or establishes a supervisory chain of command for department personnel; ensures employee compliance with work rules, terms of the contract, and the employee agreement.
  7. Evaluates the performance of department personnel; oversees the grievance process for contractor personnel assigned to the department. Provides counseling or administrative action when required.
  8. Performs aircrew duties as instructor pilot, simulator instructor, or basic C-130 pilot in accordance with CLIENTS regulations. Performs as classroom, simulator, and flight instructor in initial, upgrade, and continuation training.
