Job Title : IT Instructor

PURPOSE
The IT Instructor is responsible for delivery of all knowledge and skills training in the area of Information Technology offered in accordance with the approved IT curriculum and the Aviation Australia Riyadh College (AARC) policies and procedures.
DUTIES
- Plan and deliver clear, pedagogically, and professionally sound lessons.
- Maintain a current, relevant, and engaging curricula (by sourcing appropriate additional resources to supplement lessons) at all times throughout the allocated teaching period.
- Maintain respect and responsibility for all teaching resources and teaching areas allocated for lessons.
- Participate in the continuing review of curriculum content, teaching methods and methods of student assessment.
- Conduct examinations, and participate in the preparation, correction and assessment of examination papers and assignments.
- Prepare clear, pedagogically, and professionally sound documentation and reports and submit in the time frames stipulated by the accountable / reporting Manager.
- Participate in the counselling, remediation, and administration of students.
- Participate in the development and generation of class notes, and teaching material.
- Maintain records of course material delivered.
- Participate in student field excursions and their supervision.
- Be committed to maintaining current professional competence by active engagement in professional development activities whenever offered by AARCOE.
- Maintain a current knowledge of relevant industry compliance requirements for Instructors / Trainers.
- Monitor and self-evaluate teaching performance to ensure a high standard is maintained which provides optimal student learning opportunities.
- Maintain awareness with regards to relevant legislation.
- Maintain and monitor classroom learning activities with due regard to AARCOE’s commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Monitoring of student behaviour, reporting on behaviour in the classroom and recording infractions.
- Working with the Foundation management team to achieve a minimum of 85% student attendance.
- Accurate daily attendance submission.
- Undertake other duties as required by the accountable / reporting Manager and Senior Management.
- Participate in departmental professional development initiatives/programs.
- Take a proactive role in one’s own continual professional development in an effort to build a community of shared practice and continual growth.
- Comply with AARCOE’s requirements of:
o Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation.
o Code of Conduct.
o Policies and Procedures.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university from USA, Canada, UK, Australia, or New Zealand in a computing related subject.
- Native English speaker.
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification from an accredited university from USA, Canada, UK, Australia, or New Zealand.
Desirable
- ESL Teaching Certification TESOL / CELTA / DELTA / TEFL. (CELTA or TEFL qualification including a minimum of 120 hours of face-to-face study and 6 hours of observed teaching practice. Candidates with a PGCE or equivalent are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Master’s degree in IT / E-Learning.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree university from an accredited university from USA, Canada, UK, Australia, or New Zealand in English Language Teaching, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or Education.
Experience
Essential
- 3 to 5 years’ experience of teaching IT in a post-secondary, technical, or vocational sector.
- Demonstrated experience developing innovative teaching and learning materials and resources.
- Experience in completing administrative tasks to a high standard.
Desirable
- Experience teaching IT to English language learners.
- Prior experience in working, interacting, and caring for students from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, particularly Middle Eastern students.
- Experience working outside of home country.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Be an English native speaker. Native English speaker.
- Excellent command of verbal and written communication.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant IT Teaching practices and methodologies.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with ability to facilitate effective communication across various channels and audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve issues through negotiation and consultation with other team members.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work, to deal with competing demands, manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Preparedness to undertake training as required.
- Superior interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to always display a courteous and professional manner.
Desirable
- A basic level of spoken Arabic – Not necessary, if someone has is an advantage.
- Curriculum and materials design.
- Educational / professional workshop design and facilitation.
