 To assist the Foundation Head of Section in ensuring the highest standards of teaching, assessment, administration, student learning and development in accordance with the approved curriculum and the Aviation Australia Riyadh College (AARC) policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for overall management of, including but not limited to monitoring, reporting, evaluating, improving, and accurate and timely completion of:
  • Mock tests, examinations, quizzes, homework tasks and assessments and the submission of scores.
  • Academic records for individual students and whole classes with the support of other departments.
  • Maximize student attendance and teachers’ submission of rolls.
  • Student progress to a high standard, this includes identifying areas for improvement, action plans, implementation.
  • Develop and follow sound processes and related documentation to ensure the efficient running of the foundation department.


  • Active, effective, and motivating academic management of a team of Instructors and Lead Instructors by ensuring compliance with AARC policies and procedures and support the management philosophy of the college.
  • Work cooperatively with English Instructors and Lead Instructors under his supervision through training, supporting, and managing department staff by:
  • Ensuring that all new staff receive a comprehensive induction.
  • Supporting the continuing professional development of department staff.
  • Facilitating the sharing of good practice throughout the department.
  • Carrying out performance management of staff under direct line management.
  • Carrying out observation of teaching and learning.
  • Assist, plan and facilitate processes including the following: exam co-ordination, administration, and interviews.
  • Create and maintain class schedules for curriculum delivery each term.
  • Management of all Foundation staff to maximize Instructor utilization.
  • Responsible for planning, communicating and overall management of make-up classes.
  • Monitor, report and evaluate teachers and Lead Instructors in maintaining and updating effective classroom delivery.
  • Responsible for the administration of supporting software, such as SharePoint, Teacher Plus, OneDrive and Help Desk, etc.
  • Responsible for managing, monitoring, and reporting on equipment issues in staff rooms, computer laboratories and classrooms with due regard to AARC’s commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Teach up to 25% of the week with the other 75% being allocated for administrative duties, dependent on operational needs.
  • Manage the student warnings and teacher complaints process according to AARC policies and procedures.
  • Supporting staff in dealing effectively with student behavior to remove barriers to learning.
  • Implementing and maintaining strategies to improve overall student participation and attendance.
  • Participating in student field excursions and their supervision.
  • Participating in Department Progression Boards and College Progression Boards as required.
  • Deputizing for the Foundation Head of Section in his absence.
  • Plan and deliver clear, pedagogically, and professionally sound lessons.
  • Maintain respect and responsibility for all teaching resources and teaching areas allocated for lessons.
  • Prepare clear, pedagogically, and professionally sound documentation and reports and submit in the time frames stipulated by the accountable / reporting manager.
  • Participate in the development and generation of class notes, and teaching material.
  • Maintain records of course material delivered.
  • Be committed to maintaining current professional competence by active engagement in professional development initiatives/programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching performance to ensure a high standard is maintained which provides optimal student learning opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness with regards to relevant legislation.
  • Undertake other duties as required by the accountable / reporting manager and senior management.
  • Comply with the requirements of AARCOE’s:
  • Code of Conduct.
  • KSA Labour Law.
  • All other policies and procedures.



The Senior Instructor has the authority to:

  • Counsel and/or discipline students in compliance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Report any staff issues to the HOS or HR.
  • Discipline staff under his supervision in line with the AARC policies and procedures.




  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university from USA, Canada, UK, Australia, or New Zealand in a computing related subject.
  • Native English speaker.
  • Hold a recognised teaching qualification from an accredited university from USA, Canada, UK, Australia, or New Zealand.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university from USA, Canada, UK, Australia, or New Zealand in English Language Teaching, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or Education.
  • Master’s degree university from an accredited university from USA, Canada, UK, Australia, or New Zealand in English Language Teaching, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education.



  • Previous teaching experience (minimum of 5 years) in the post-secondary, technical or vocational sector.
  • Previous line management experience and a managerial role in the education sector.
  • Demonstrated experience developing innovative teaching and learning materials and resources.
  • Experience in completing administrative tasks related to class management to a high standard, including scheduling and resource planning.
  • Previous experience in supervising teaching staff.



  • Experience teaching ESP, EAP and IELTS courses.
  • Prior experience in working, interacting, and caring for students from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, particularly Middle Eastern students.
  • Experience working outside of home country


Knowledge and Skills


  • Have experience and skills to deliver teacher training, devise test/assessments, develop teaching materials and/or creating materials for computer-assisted language learning and support their use.
  • Native English Speaker.
  • Excellent command of verbal and written communication and a strong sense of grammatical accuracy.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant ESL practices and methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures, applicable preferably to a medium to large organisation.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with ability to facilitate effective communication across various channels and audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve issues through negotiation and consultation with other team members.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work, to deal with competing demands, manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Strong computer literacy skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications and the ability to become an effective user of new computer systems.
  • Preparedness to undertake training as required.
