Calibration technicians maintain, test and repair a variety of instrumentation and equipment. Their primary job is to make sure that instruments, gauges and testing devices are calibrated correctly and give accurate readings.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- To calibrate and repair tools and test equipment.
- Control and track tools/equipment inspection or calibration dates.
- Set up laboratory and testing equipment.
- Work with concerned departments on ordering necessary parts for repair.
- Work closely with electrical apparatuses and have knowledge of electricity and circuitry.
- Calibrate instruments and troubleshoot, install, and repair mechanical components.
- Devise formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
- Set up standard and special-purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate instruments and test equipment.
- Disassemble instruments and equipment using hand tools, and inspect components for defects.
- Align, repair, replace, and balance component parts and circuitry.
- Assist supervisor in planning sequences of testing and calibration procedures for instruments and equipment, according to blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and other specifications.
- Assist engineers and supervisors in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
Education / Experience / Skills / Certifications:
- High school, Diploma, Associate, or equivalent.
- Combination of technical education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to use computer-controlled Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) Calibration Systems.
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and test equipment.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data to complete calibration procedures.
- Good vision, math skills, and eye-hand coordination.
- Able to demonstrate innovative and adaptive solutions.
- Able to formulate technical reports with recommendations.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
