Aircraft Structures Technician
The Structural Technician assembles complex parts and sub-assemblies in accordance with the technical file or documentation, ensuring that the work is carried out to the required standards. They must also maintain Quality standards within their activities. The Aeronautical Technician is divided into several specialties (Inspection / Structure / Mechanics).
Responsibilities
- Know and apply rules, procedures, and processes for operations, and where to find them.
- Check work conformity against standards in technical documentation.
- Adhere to health and safety rules, use PPE, and environmental protection protocols.
- Assemble/disassemble aircraft equipment/systems and mechanical connectors.
- Follow internal or customer documentation for all tasks.
- Inventory components before operations.
- Refer to technical and safety instructions for used products.
- Use appropriate tools and fixtures for assembling aerostructures.
- Assemble metal and/or composite parts, trace, drill, deburr, check fixtures, etc.
- Work with customer technical data (production, instruction sheets, environment, etc.).
- Ensure technical development and inspection of the assembled unit.
- Apply sealants, metallization, anticorrosives, and touch-up paint.
- Inspect assemblies/sub-assemblies and document non-conformities.
- Report irregularities and summarize work performed.
- Measure performance and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Validate assemblies by reading drawings and checking fasteners and bores.
Skills and Qualifications
- Vocational diploma in aeronautics/structural assembly/aircraft construction or equivalent
- 2–5 years of experience in a similar position
- Excellent blueprint reading skills
- Dexterity and keen attention to detail
- Strong knowledge of aeronautical technical specifications and standards (BAPS, AIPI, etc.)
- Proactive and collaborative team player
Required Experience
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in manufacturing or the industrial sector
